New music: Crystal Kay - Take it outside

Crystal Kay - Take it outside | New music

I don't usually like these types of songs. But I can tolerate them if they're helmed by an artist I f**king love and their vocal game is on point. I love Crystal and she don't fall off with the vocals, so that's my verdict pretty much done. But of course I want to talk about this song in more than a sentence, so I'mma bore you to death with additional paragraphs on why I like this song and why you should set up a Paypal account and wire CK some money if you yanked this shit from Soundcloud. A ho gotta eat ya'll. Send her some money. I would have, but I was busy typing this try'na get a chick some PR.

"Take it outside" is on trend with what is saturating airwaves worldwide, so it gets an A for global appeal and relevance. Crystal is on that auto-tune, but we know she can sing. And to be quite frank, I love me some auto-tuned Crystal. But her vocal game on this is pretty standard. She doesn't fly kick your soul and then choke slam it as she did on say "Haru arashi", so I give that shit a B-. The whole thing sounds like a Black eyed peas joint. If will.i.am were to cut a record with Crystal, this is exactly what I'd imagine it sounding like. The Black eyed peas are a gangrenous mess and will.i.am is a silly little n***a. But...this is Crystal. And I don't hate the song. So I give it a C. Put all this shit together and my grade for this song should average out at a B...I think. Not that it matters. This is already on my iPod and I'mma play this song until Crystal's next single drops.

There's no confirmation as to whether this song will appear on Crystal's upcoming album. I like it enough that I'd want it to. But am not so in love with it that I'd be upset if it got left off. It's just nice to hear something new from Crystal. And to hear that despite jumping on a bandwagon, she's trying something she's not done before and still retaining that un-mistakable CK essence. If this DOES get shortlisted for inclusion for Crystal's upcoming album, then I will need a proper bridge section, Crystal screaming the black off her skin with some ad-libs during the refrain and a switch somewhere.

Her album will flop. But I'mma still cop it. Based on this, "Superman", "Delicious na kinyoubi" and "Haru arashi", this album has already thrown Spin the flop onto the Yanamote line during rush hour when the pink p***y carriage stops, drops and rolls.

  1. The song is okay. I don't like it, but I don't hate it either. If crystal never visited this sound again I wouldn't mind. I hope this is the only song that she went into a more euro dance direction with. I also kind of hope it's featured as a B side on her new single and left off the album. I need me R&B crystal!!

  4. I really like this song. This def wasn't what I was expecting and I'm glad about that. Crystal on auto-tune is awesome in my opinion because she rarely does it. It sounds fresh and new some how. Bring it on girl! June 26th, I can't wait. I'm interested to hear the new single.

  5. I love this song. I fell in love the moment I heard the song. I love that whiplash sound... DIG TASH DIG TASH DIG TASH DIG TASH DIG TASH DIG TASH!

    I give it a 8/10.

  6. While this is auto-tune her voice is not totally obliterated like so many other singers who use it. You can still hear that she's a good singer imo.

  7. Don't listen to her at all and this song just reaffirms why I do not.

Even if she does kind of sound like Meisa right here, who I do love.

The start of the Chorus could have been a clutcher had it not done the repetitive I-I-I-I-I-I thing over and over all throughout the entire thing and she had kept going with the momentum. The direction they chose was so lazy and just served as a way to fill up space until it was time for the back end of the Chorus to come in. Just stopped any flow the Chorus might have had.

I'm done. And so is this girl.

    1. Is funny reading your comment, you don't listen her music at all and dare to complain for this song, I don't get you, but you love meisa's music lol XD everybody knows that meisa doesn't sing sh** she is pretty but that's all. At least crystal can sing, she's just trying something new and this isn't her first single anyway, let's wait for her album and then will see if is a flop or not.

    2. This song really isn't a good indication of what Crystal is capable of. I consider this to be one of her low points (Crystal hardly, if ever, delivers a flat out bad song), and this still takes a steaming hot sh*t on anything Meisa has/will ever release. To me this song is more of an album filler track. Before you pass judgement on Crystal download All Yours and have a listen. It's definitely her best album so far, and it's filled with R&B, with a few deviations throughout the album.

Whether or not this album is good, (I'm pretty confident that I'll like it) Crystal's career is still in jeopardy. Universal may be willing to tolerate one flop album, but if she doesn't get her shit straight soon, she's going to fade away like all the other artists who were once big, and then began to have consecutive flops.

    3. So you don't listen to her AT ALL and are judging her whole career/discography on this ONE song??? #FAIL

  8. I love Crystal but this song is disposable. She should tread back to R&B and fuse it with another genre/s to sound contemporary. She should team up with DJ Clazzi of "Clazziquai Project" fame, Mad Soul Child, F.P.M, DJ Kawasaki, etc.

I'll still support her and purchase the album if the rest of the tracks are up to par.

  9. I love her, and I love this song, but I honestly miss her R&B

  11. I was not loving this song at first because it's something all the westerns have done before nothing new, nothing incredible... but it's f'ing catchy: "Baby take it outsI-I-I-I-Ide". I have the chorus stuck on my head... well probably because I've been listening to it since it was made public hahaha!

  12. Wow!! It look like haters or trolls are visiting, love Ck no matter what, this song is cute, is different from her R&B stuff but it looks like that style is not working for her or japan? , so maybe she want's to try something new, will see.
Waiting for her new album. :-)

  13. This song is definitely not "Haru arashi" or even "Superman" in my book. As much as I love Crystal Kay in all of her vocal incarnations, this is not one of my favorite songs out of all of her recent releases. Can I listen to this? Yes. Will this be in heavy rotation on my iPod? As of right now, no. I may need to give it a few more listens before I pass complete judgement on her, but this is a vocally weak song from Crystal and I know she can rock out some auto-tune better than this. This song is too simplistic both vocally and lyrically for me to take it seriously.

She doesn't have to strictly stay in one genre for me to continue to love her, which I still do so much so that I am waiting on her to give me her e-mail so I can send her some money through Paypal, but I do need her to not compromise her music so much that she sounds like someone else. I barely recognize her on this song, and I don't like that feeling. We have enough J-hoes who can't sing, so there is no need for Kuri-chan to join their ranks. I am going to give this a couple of more listens to see if my opinion changes.

  14. I really like this song! Not as much as "Superman", "Delicious... " or "Haru Arashi" but it's still a hot track that I'll listen to when I'm working out or something.
I seriously don't have a clue wtf kind of crack Japan are smoking for all of CK's latest stuff to STILL be flopping while systematically shitting on most other people in the Oricon top 10...

  15. Lol idk why everyone is treating this as a single..its just a track from the album..wait for "Forever" to drop and then we can play "hot" or "flop"..just sayin X)

    1. It's not that serious sweetheart. You should learn how to take opinions with a grain of salt and let it be.

I will never understand why people feel the need to use profanity and hostility to get their point across. Seriously, grow up.

  17. Her best work when she was younger and the last album that was good was color change All yours was the shit and any album before then was good now superman (piano version) is good and Love Road is good but these type of songs with funky beats isn't her thing she should stick to R&B it's something she's really good at and it suits her well i can understand going outside your box but you gotta make your money do what you do best and that's R&B music

    1. I want to agree with you wholeheartedly, but I believe that Crystal handles other genres very well. "Haru Arashi" is hotter than molten lava and I can't help but think about songs like "Suki" and "Over and Over" as other good examples of her dominating tracks with funky beats. Crystal does R&B very well, but sticking to it all of these years has not paid off well, besides with "All Yours". I definitely would like her to dip in and out of the genre, but to stay exclusively in that would only lead to her downfall. People apparently have a hard time appreciating that genre unless it is done by slutty or hyper sexual boy bands, girl groups, or weave thrashing skanks *cough*hoe-da-kumi*cough*

I am wishing on a star that she can find some success, not matter how small, with this upcoming album because I am very happy with all of the promotion and singles that Delicious Deli have afforded her. I have never seen this much continuous promotion and exposure for Crystal, and it is a shame that it is not placing her in the Oricon top 10. Crystal definitely wins the award for the most unappreciated artists of the decade. I really have to commend her for sticking it out for over 10 years while so many new artists, who have not been around for half as long, seem to have majorly successful careers. As long as she keeps singing, I am definitely going to keep listening.

    2. is it True that She's not that big in Japan and she's not making a lot of money?

      Delete
    3. She was big, she had a load of successful albums but then her old label basically stopped promoting her at all so her last album was a flop and she switched to delicious deli which is the label she's releasing her new album on.

    4. Man this album is gonna be a flop with all this funky music the only good funky songs she has is it's a crime and delicious deli that's it she should stick to pop this album is gonna suck I wish her last label would have promote her better but this label just telling her to make funky shit that her fans wont like wild things is wack too this album is gonna be wack please go back to Pop and R&B I miss the old Crystal Kay!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I first heard her on FMA ending 3 motherhood she should do more songs like that

  18. Wow I think this is a record for Random Jpop on most comments on a Thread. C-Kay Threads always end up w/ random anons popping up out of no where spewing nonsense. Crysal still is doing pop, I don't get why everyone is making such a big deal. She's been experimenting with her sound the past few years, so this shouldn't be new to anyone. She hasn't entirely abandoned her R&B sounds. On her last studio release songs like "Goodbye" and "Thank You for Talkin to Me Africa" we're definite R&B records. Lets not condemn the album before it even releases. Lastly, where the wild things are is NOT her song, she's featured on it, and I'm sure it's more of a vehicle to garner western exposure more than anything else.

    1. this album is gonna flop sighs Mel R everyone has an opinion even you so stop dissing the anons I can diss you about your Opinions but im too cool to diss you

    2. Saying Crystal no longer does R&B is making assumptions and jumping the gun. While her singles have mostly been pop, we don't know what her album has in store, and I would consider superman to be an R&B influenced track with Crystal's signature style. I'm not dissing anyone's opinion. This is a thread meant for us to discuss our opinions on Crystal/ This track. Obviously people are going to disagree, but is it so hard to disagree in an amiable manner?

Take a look at how hostile some of these anon comments are. They're calling people bitches saying shit like who the fuck asked you for your opinion, and just being plain rude. Judging by their horribly written, grammatically incorrect comments, I'm not sure if they're trolls or just plain stupid.

    3. No one says she Stopped doing RnB where did you get that from? people are saying she's doing pop nobody said nothing about her stop doing RnB kid. Dont throw things down people's throats she just did an Rnb song called Love Road So How can someone say she doesn't do Rnb? btw your also an anon you just gave yourself a name you didn't join the site you just clicked name/URL your an anon too As for the anon who called the person a bitch that person felt offended cause whoever wrote that blog about Crystal giving head and having jins d*** in her p**** that was rude for the person who wrote the blog to say they dont know Crystal personal btw some of the anons are japanese fans im half japanses and sometimes i dont like what the bloger says but i dont post rude stuff to him or her i know the bloger is a fan of her music everyone has their on opinions and you are right She's trying out different things who said it's wrong for her to try we just want Crystal to be successful for you to call the anons stupid is rude im sure they where just offended otherwise Take care Im Edward Elric The FullMetal Alchemist lol

  19. @Mel "I'll Be There" was also as R&B as you can get imo, straight up old school. I still listen to that song. I could def see that being played on R&B stations in the states. I won't comment on anything else that ppl are saying cause I'm tired, lol. But I am looking forward to this album and I can't imagine it not being good, Crystal hasn't dissapointed me yet.
